Latvia thanks the Czech Republic for its contribution to the Baltic security by participating in NATO’s enhanced Forward Presence battle group as well as in the Baltic Air Patrol Mission. It holds both a significant symbolic and practical meaning, said Ināra Mūrniece, Speaker of the Saeima during her working visit to the Czech Republic.
Speaker Mūrniece visited the military base in the Czech city of Litoměřice, meeting with the soldiers of the engineering unit who will arrive in Ādaži this summer, replacing the current Czech contingent.
NATO’s multinational battle group led by Canada has been in Latvia since 2017. The group includes more than 1500 soldiers from Canada, Albania, the Czech Republic, Iceland, Italy, Montenegro, Poland, Slovakia, Slovenia and Spain.
