On Wednesday, 5 November, during its extraordinary plenary sitting, the Saeima, with 61 votes for and 39 votes against, approved Laimdota Straujuma as the Prime Minister and gave a vote of confidence to her Cabinet of Ministers.
Raimonds Vējonis, Minister for Defence; Edgars Rinkēvičs, Minister for Foreign Affairs; Rihards Kozlovskis, Minister for the Interior; Dace Melbārde, Minister for Culture; Uldis Augulis, Minister for Welfare; Anrijs Matīss, Minister for Transport and Communication; and Jānis Dūklavs, Minister for Agriculture, were members of the previous Cabinet led by Prime Minister Straujuma, and they were approved for another term.
Dana Reizniece-Ozola will now be in charge of the Ministry of Economics; Jānis Reirs will become the Minister for Finance; Mārīte Seile has been appointed as the Minister for Education and Science; the Ministry of Justice will be led by Dzintars Rasnačs; the Ministry of Health will be managed by Guntis Belēvičs; and Kaspars Gerhards will take over the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Regional Development.
Laimdota Straujuma has been the head of the government since January 2014.
