From 8 to 12 December, a group of staff members from the parliament of Moldova are on a study visit at the Saeima to learn about its experience in involving the public in the work of the parliament, as well as to observe the functioning of the Visitor and Information Centre and the Public Relations Department of the Saeima.
In 2015, the parliament of Moldova is planning to open its own Visitor and Information Centre, which is being modelled upon the Saeima’s Visitor and Information Centre. For this reason, three staff members of the Communication and Public Relation Department of the parliament of Moldova are on a study visit to the Saeima.
During their visit, the staff members from the parliament of Moldova will meet with the heads of the Public Relations Department, the Interparliamentary Relations Bureau and the Protocol Division of the Saeima, as well as with Karina Pētersone, Director of the Latvian Institute, and Andris Gobiņš, President of the European Movement – Latvia. The guests will also take a group photo with Ināra Mūrniece, Speaker of the Saeima. The staff members of the parliament of Moldova will observe and actually participate in the work of the Visitor and Information Centre of the Saeima with the public.
The study visit to Latvia for the staff members of the parliament of Moldova is being organised within the framework of the UN Development Programme in Moldova. The aim of the programme is to strengthen the institutional capacity of the parliament and the Central Electoral Commission of Moldova, improve their main functions and enhance gender equality and human rights aspects into their work.
