Saeima’s team ranks 2nd in the Games of European Parliamentarians held in Moscow

From 5 to 7 October a team consisting of members of the Saeima took part in the Third Games of European Parliamentarians in Moscow; it ranked 2nd and thus brought home a trophy.

In individual disciplines, MP Jānis Klaužs (Union of Greens and Farmers) ranked 2nd in table tennis, MP Vitālijs Orlovs (Concorde Centre) ranked 4th in chess and MP Romāns Naudiņš (All for Latvia – For Fatherland and Freedom/LNNK) ranked 4th in tennis. The Saeima’s mini-football team won 3rd place.

The trophy, letters of recognition and individual awards that the Saeima’s team won were on display in the Voting Room in the main building of the Saeima on Thursday, 11 October.

Parliamentarians from 11 countries took part in the Games of European Parlaimentarians held in Moscow. The Latvian parliament was represented by Vice Chairman of the Sports Subcommittee Ivans Klementjevs, MPs Uldis Augulis (Union of Greens and Farmers), Rihards Eigims (Union of Greens and Farmers), Jānis Klaužs (Union of Greens and Farmers), Igors Meļņikovs (Concorde Centre), Romāns Naudiņš Naudiņš (All for Latvia – For Fatherland and Freedom/LNNK), Vitālijs Orlovs (Concorde Centre), Sergejs Potapkins (Concorde Centre), Dmitrijs Rodionovs (Concorde Centre), Aleksandrs Sakovskis (Concorde Centre) and Mihails Zemļinskis (Concorde Centre), as well as staff members of the Saeima.

This was the third time that the Saeima’s team took part in the Games of European Parliamentarians, and all related expenses were covered personally by the MPs.
