The Saeima adopted 112 laws during its autumn session

During its autumn session of 2012, the Saeima convened for 16 plenary sittings, 1 extraordinary sitting and 1 ceremonial sitting. During this autumn session, the parliament has adopted 112 laws, including 17 new laws and amendments to 95 laws. In the process of law making, the Saeima has considered 3,176 legislative proposals either in the second or in the third reading.

During this period, 155 draft laws were forwarded to relevant committees for review; 104 of these draft laws were submitted to the Saeima by the Cabinet of Ministers, 3 by the President, 36 by MPs, and 12 by committees of the Saeima. MPs have submitted a far larger number of draft laws than in the previous sessions.

During the autumn session, Andrejs Elksniņš (Concord Centre) was the most active participant in debates – he took the floor 52 times. Andrejs Judins (Unity) addressed the Saeima from the rostrum on 27 occasions. Ilma Čepāne (Unity) and Kārlis Seržants (Union of Greens and Farmers) participated in debates on 26 occasions each. In total, the MPs took part in debates 642 times.

The Saeima ended its autumn session on 27 December 2012, and it will begin its winter session on 8 January 2013.
