During the First Parliamentary Summit of the International Crimea Platform in the Croatian capital Zagreb, Ināra Mūrniece, Speaker of the Saeima, received a national award of Ukraine—the Order of Prince Yaroslav the Wise, II degree. The Order was presented to the Speaker of the Saeima by Ruslan Stefanchuk, Chair of the Parliament of Ukraine.
The Order was awarded for significant personal accomplishments in strengthening international cooperation, supporting the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine, and for important contribution to the promotion of Ukraine worldwide. The Decree for awarding the Order was issued by Volodymyr Zelensky, the President of Ukraine.
“It is a great honour and high commendation for Latvia for its consistent support and assistance to the state and people of Ukraine over the course of many years. We will continue to do so for as long as necessary to restore justice and international order and for Russia to receive just punishment for the crimes it has committed,” expressed Mūrniece.
The Speaker of the Saeima is on a working visit to Zagreb, capital of Croatia, until 26 October. Rihards Kols, Chair of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the Saeima, is also participating in the Summit together with Speaker Mūrniece.
The International Crimea Platform, established in 2021, is a government, parliament, and expert‑level coordination and consultation format.
