On Thursday, 10 February, the Saeima supported the government decision to extend the state of emergency at the Latvia‑Belarus border.
Considering the situation near the Latvia‑Belarus border, the state of emergency in Ludza, Krāslava, and Augšdaugava Municipalities is to be extended until 10 May 2022.
The state of emergency was declared in August 2021 in view of the sharp increase in the number of illegal crossings of the Latvian‑Belarusian border, as well as the substantial number of illegal crossings of the Lithuanian‑Belarusian border detected in Lithuania.
