On Monday, 28 February, the Speakers of the Estonian, Lithuanian Parliaments and the First Deputy Speaker of Swedish Parliament will visit Latvia on a working visit to discuss the security situation in the region.
"Traditionally, the Baltic States together with the Nordic countries, in NB8 and in other formats, discuss the most important events in the region, as well as various geopolitical issues. At the moment, all our attention is devoted to Ukraine, where Russia has carried out a large-scale military offensive. At this difficult time, we must be united with Ukraine and continue to provide all available political and practical support," said Ināra Mūrniece, Speaker of the Saeima, noting that during the meeting it is planned to discuss cooperation and coordination between the Baltic States, Sweden, and also with other Nordic countries.
The Speaker of the Saeima will host the Speaker of the Parliament of the Republic of Estonia Jüri Ratas, the Speaker of the Parliament of the Republic of Lithuania Viktorija Čmilytė-Nielsen, and the First Deputy Speaker of the Parliament of the Kingdom of Sweden Åsa Lindestam.
After the meeting of the Speakers, a joint press conference will be held.
