According to the explanatory note of the Draft Law, construction of a liquefied natural gas terminal is critically important to the resilience of energy supply routes and the distribution of natural gas.
The Law applies the status of a structure of national interest to the Skulte LNG Terminal, the pipeline connection with the natural gas transmission system and the related structures, and establishes legal prerequisites for a successful construction of the terminal.
It also stipulates a more flexible deadline for the completion of the environmental impact assessment of the Skulte LNG Terminal project.
The Skulte LNG Terminal and the related structures must be in commission by 15 September 2024.
