Speaker Mūrniece: Freedom, independence, democracy — highest values at the foundation of our state
“We have come together to honour democracy and parliamentarism. To honour the strength of Latvia and the fact that our voices have always been crucial to the destiny of Latvia. That was the case during the founding of the state of Latvia and during the restoration of Latvian independence, and it is true today as we create the future of Latvia—the continuation of us. Freedom, independence, democracy—these are the highest values laid at the foundation of our state and the state system,” emphasised Ināra Mūrniece, Speaker of the Saeima, on Thursday, 27 October, in her opening address of the celebratory concert “Continuation. Our Voices” dedicated to the centenary of the Saeima.
Speaker Mūrniece in Croatia: full Ukrainian victory - guarantee for peace in Europe
“The Armed Forces and the brave people of Ukraine are now fighting for the right to live in their own country. Their goal is to liberate the occupied territories and establish peace. The victory of Ukraine is a victory for us as well. Only a full Ukrainian victory and total defeat of Russia will guarantee lasting peace in Europe,” emphasised Ināra Mūrniece, Speaker of the Saeima, on Tuesday, 25 October, in Zagreb in her address at the First Parliamentary Summit of the International Crimea Platform, which brought together over 30 different countries and international organisations.

“In Latvia, there is an understanding that peace in Europe can only be achieved with a complete victory for Ukraine and defeat for Russia. The Parliament of Latvia has always been on the side of Ukraine, and the support that we provide for Ukraine is also the support for Crimean Tatars. You can count on it,” said Ināra Mūrniece, Speaker of the Saeima, during her meeting with Refat Chubarov, Chair of the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar People, and Olexandr Mischenko, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Ukraine to the Republic of Latvia, on Tuesday, 6 September.
Speaker Mūrniece to Finnish Ambassador: we welcome Finland's decision to join NATO
"As neighbours of aggressor state Russia, we welcome and appreciate Finland's decision to join NATO," said Ināra Mūrniece, Speaker of the Saeima, during her meeting with Marja Riitta Korpivaara, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Finland to the Republic of Latvia, who paid her farewell call to the Parliament of Latvia on Wednesday, 10 August.

"We highly appreciate Norway’s contribution to the close cooperation within the Baltic and Nordic—the NB8—format," said Ināra Mūrniece, Speaker of the Saeima, during her meeting with Kristian Ødegaard, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Kingdom of Norway to the Republic of Latvia, who paid his farewell call to the Parliament of Latvia on 10 August. 
Speaker Mūrniece to Canadian Ambassador: security is key item on the agenda
"Security has become the main item on our bilateral agenda. We are grateful for Canada’s contribution and leadership in strengthening the security of the Baltic region, and especially for taking the lead as a framework nation of the NATO enhanced Forward Presence (eFP) battle group in Latvia," said Ināra Mūrniece, Speaker of the Saeima, during her meeting with Kevin Rex, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Canada to Latvia, on 10 August. Ināra Mūrniece: Three Seas Initiative aims to attract investment and boost regional growth
The Three Seas Initiative covers 12 countries between the Adriatic, Baltic, and Black seas and aims to promote the development and connectivity of the region. We have the prerequisites for growth, but we also need to foster both cooperation and private and public investment to develop infrastructure projects, said the Saeima Speaker Ināra Mūrniece at the opening of the Three Seas Initiative Parliamentary Forum at the Saeima on Tuesday, 21 June.

“It is in our interests that Ukraine achieves full victory and its territorial sovereignty is restored, and Crimea must be returned to Ukraine. This is a precondition for sustainable peace in Europe. The Crimean Tatars are patriots of Ukraine, and when we think of Ukraine, we also think of the Crimean Tatars,” said Ināra Mūrniece, Speaker of the Saeima, on Wednesday, 18 May, at the videoconference organised by the Crimean Tatar Mejlis. Today marks 78 years since the deportations of the Crimean Tatars carried out by the Soviet regime.
