On Tuesday, 13 August, the newly elected judge of the European Court of Human Rights Artūrs Kučs, the President of the Constitutional Court Aldis Laviņš, as well as former judges of the European Court of Human Rights from Latvia Mārtiņš Mits, the judge of the Constitutional Court, and Ineta Ziemele, the judge of the Court of Justice of the European Union, visited the Parliament and discussed human rights issues with the Deputy Speaker of the Saeima Zanda Kalniņa-Lukaševica and MPs.

“Love brings us together. It is a force that helps overcome the most difficult of times. You have endured harrowing experiences, and our hearts are with you. Children and hardships are never just someone else’s responsibility. The children are participating in summer camps in Latvia to recover from the horrors of war witnessed in their home regions near the front lines.

On the eve of the NATO Summit, the parliament speakers of the Alliance’s member states met in the capital of the U.S. to take a stand on Transatlantic security issues and discuss support for Ukraine.

On Tuesday, 26 June, Zanda Kalniņa-Lukaševica, Deputy Speaker of the Saeima, Head of the Latvian Delegation to the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe, participated in the central debate on support for Ukraine at the Assembly's summer session in Strasbourg. The Assembly approved three resolutions expressing support, inter alia, for the establishment of a special tribunal for Russia to be held accountable on the basis of a special treaty between the Council of Europe and Ukraine.
